Using PPAs on Debian the unix way
The other day I needed access the the Ubuntu Grails package and this seem to only be available through a PPA address: ppa:groovy-dev/grails
Looking on the web all I could find were some pages that wanted me to install extra software that would handle the ppa for me. Well I hate not knowing what is happening so I looked a bit deeper and discovered how simple a PPA really is.
The above PPA converts to something like
deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/groovy-dev/grails/ubuntu precise mainOr you can just download the pachage directly from the URI:
deb-src http://ppa.launchpad.net/groovy-dev/grails/ubuntu precise main
http://ppa.launchpad.net/groovy-dev/grails/ubuntu/pool/main/g/
Hope this helps. Most of this is right on the launchpad page.
